Eurobeat Brony and The Living Tombstone Bring First Brony Song to Rock Band!

The popular cartoon “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic” has spawned an entire subculture of young adults, known as “Bronies,” who love the show for various reasons. A large amount of these bronies are artists, writers, musicians, and other creative types who draw inspiration from the show to create high-quality fan content that not only enrich their own love of the show, but also that of the entire community who enjoys these works. We’re proud to announce the first song to come to the Rock Band Network of this nature, which is the Living Tombstone remix of “Discord” by Eurobeat Brony!

Eurobeat Brony and The Living Tombstone are two of the most well-known brony musicians in the fandom. Eurobeat Brony is known for, well, eurobeat tracks! He creates his own versions of songs from the show as well as original tracks inspired by the show and its characters. “Discord” is inspired by the eponymous villain from Season 2, a reality warper who spreads chaos and disharmony wherever he goes. The version coming to Rock Band is a remix by electronic producer/composer The Living Tombstone, who in addition to remixes of other brony songs has created many original works, including “Dubstep Dishwasher” (the theme from the fan animation “Epic Wub Time”) and “Tom’s Dog” (the credits theme from TomSka’s animation “asdfmovie5”).

For those who may not be fans of MLP, “Discord (The Living Tombstone Remix)” should still be appealing for fans of upbeat electronic music. The song has gotten almost 2,000,000 views on YouTube, and has been featured on Rolling Stone and Equestria Daily. Keys players will definitely enjoy the solo near the end, and vocalists will have a blast singing the powerful harmonies.

I’m totally getting this on PS3. This, and Amazing Horse by Weebl.

Once, of course, Rock Band makes it actually available on PSN.

    • If I recall correctly, Amazing Horse should be available on PSN now.

And when can I play this

    June 2, 2012 at 8:02 am

    • It’ll be available once it passes the Peer Review process. We don’t have an exact release date yet, but you can follow either Rock Band or Chart Toppers Authoring (or both) on Twitter and/or Facebook to keep track of the RBN releases so you’ll know as soon as the song is released.

what are your release date expectations?? 2 weeks, 1 weeks? please im sooo waiting for this song!!! next do september 😀

    June 2, 2012 at 9:39 pm

    • The Peer Review process could take anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. We’ll try to get this released as soon as possible, but it’s pretty much up to the process.

Let the artist know what songs you’d like to see next; they decide what we work on. If we get the opportunity, we won’t say no. 🙂

So, when everything’s done, it will be able to be bought on the RB Store? Specifically, on the Wii?

    June 4, 2012 at 11:04 am

    • Yes, upon release, the song will be available for purchase on the RB Music Store.

Unfortunately, the Wii version will not get the song. In January of last year, Rock Band Network releases on Wii were discontinued due to lack of demand and poor sales. No word on if it will ever be reinstated. Harmonix-released weekly DLC has not been stopped on Wii though.

The song will be released on Xbox 360 first, and then will be eligible for porting to PS3 after 30 days. Whether it ports or not is up to Harmonix, and will be influenced by sales and demand.

WHY YOU REALIZE THAT THIS IS COMPLETELY UNFAIR< WHAT ABOUT THOSE OF US WHO HAVE DOWNLOADED EVERY SINGLE PACK? COME ON PEOPLE! THINK A LITTLE BIT! I'VE BEEN WAITING THE LONGEST TIME FOR UPDATES

        July 18, 2012 at 11:50 am

      • It wasn’t our decision. If I had my way, all Chart Toppers releases would be on the PS3 and Wii from day one. Unfortunately, Harmonix discontinued RBN support since sales and demand were low. They were so low that Harmonix were actually losing money adding new RBN tracks to the Wii.

You still get weekly HMX-authored songs (like the three singles that came out yesterday) but not songs from the RBN side. Sorry.

And Seriously, I mean, what if it’s because there aren’t many people who own a wii? I definitely not afford $200+ for a new ps3 or however much it costs. please, I beg of you, please let those of us on the wii buy at least this song, if not just reopen Rockband network releases for us.

please, ignore my last comment I didn’t realize you had replied, sorry about that, thank you though.

        July 20, 2012 at 9:22 am

      • No worries. 🙂

The thing I can suggest that may help would be either contacting Harmonix directly to ask them about reinstating support, and/or buying more RBN tracks to show demand through sales. I can’t guarantee either will work (sales are really low on the Wii even for official DLC), at least not immediately, but if there ends up being enough demand it might be possible.

As a drummer, I’m a little underwhelmed with this choice. But you can’t chart what isn’t there.
The 3-part harmony is pretty cool, I’ll admit.

why cant i play it on wii?

    August 2, 2012 at 6:43 pm

    • Harmonix discontinued Wii support for Rock Band Network songs in January 2011 due to low sales and demand. The songs were selling so poorly that Harmonix was actually losing money porting songs to Wii.

You still get weekly HMX-authored releases, but not RBN tracks. I wish it wasn’t that way; if it were up to me, our entire catalog would be on Wii and PS3 from day one. Sorry. 😦

So, If I asked for t one of my songs to be on RB, would you guys do it?

    August 22, 2012 at 8:51 pm

    • If it’s an original song you own all the rights to, and have the master tracks on-hand for, yeah, we’d definitely want to check it out. Shoot us an email at charttoppersauthoring@gmail.com if you want to talk more about the process.
