Rocket Ship Resort is no stranger to Rock Band, having released “Starlight Speedway” to RBN in late 2011. The song’s high-energy electronic sound and upbeat vocals made it a hit. Now, Rocket Ship Resort makes its return to the Rock Band platform with the closing song to the Dream Catcher EP, “Postcard!”

“Postcard” is a bit less high-energy than “Starlight Speedway” but no less powerful. Mike Meredith delivers a strong vocal performance accented by various harmonies, unique synths, distorted guitar, diverse basslines and driven drum patterns that overall make “Postcard” a blast to play on Rock Band.

If you haven’t become a fan of Rocket Ship Resort from “Starlight Speedway,” then “Postcard” will be the song that makes you finally go and check out more music. And there’s no better time than now; the band recently released their new single “Firebirds” from their upcoming “Weather & the Waves” album and earlier collaborated with Blake Swift (known as ShadyVox to Yu-Gi-Oh GX Abridged and Rock Band fans alike) on a wonderful cover of Blink-182’s “Up All Night.”

There are people who play guitar on Rock Band. There are people who sing. There are people who like to do both at the same time. Very few songs lend themselves well to the third type of player, and we’re glad to throw one more into the mix with this beautiful acoustic piece, “Faster Than a Bullet” from New York/Haiti band Zing Experience!

Hemos anunciado muchas canciones últimamente, pero no habíamos tenido hard rock por un buen tiempo, pero llego el momento de cambiar eso. Estamos muy orgullosos de traer a Rock Band Network la banda de rock venezolana “Sifting” la cual presenta su primera canción que lleva el mismo titulo de su nuevo LP “All the Hated”.

Un dato interesante sobre Sifting es que aun cuando es una banda de rock venezolana, sus canciones son cantadas en ingles. Habiendose formado en el año 2007 Sifting ya ha compartido el escenario con actos tales como “Bullet for My Valentine” y han grabado un EP titulado “All the Hated”, el cual ha sido expandido a un LP.

El material de esta banda es muy diverso, con esta canción que están poniendo en este momento, los jugadores de rock band tendrán la oportunidad de saborear el  lado de hard rock de esta banda, pero Sifting también entra en el territorio de “progressive metal”, ellos mezclan varias voces poderosas con multiples partes activas de guitarra acompañados de secciones con ritmo agresivo, creando un sonido único cada vez que hacen ésta combinación de elementos. Como resultado tenemos música extremadamente divertida de jugar en Rock Band.

We’ve announced many things lately, but we’ve not had some hard rock for a while. I think it’s time to fix that. We’re proud to announce that we’re bringing Venezuelan rock band Sifting to Rock Band Network with the title track to their upcoming LP, “All the Hated,” as their first song on Rock Band!

Sifting is a Venezuelan rock band, but their songs are in English. Formed in 2007, the band has already shared the stage with acts such as Bullet for My Valentine, and has recorded an EP titled “All the Hated,” which is being expanded into an LP.

Their material is very diverse; Rock Band players will get a taste of their hard rock side, but Sifting also wanders into progressive metal territory. They combine powerful vocal harmonies with multiple active guitars backed by an aggressive rhythm section, creating a unique sound each time they combine these elements. This results in music that ends up being extremely fun to play on Rock Band. See for yourself; as per usual, we’ve got a preview video to show you just how awesome these guys are.

Rock Band tracks are bought for many reasons. Some buy songs because they sound amazing, and some buy songs looking for challenging charts. We’re proud to announce two songs from guitar virtuoso Jim Morris that fits both descriptions and will therefore be must-buys.

Jim Morris is an enigmatic guitar player who burst onto the scene with his unique style of instrumental rock fusion. Jim’s sound is a combination of metal, jazz, classical, blues, and traditional rock.

Jim started playing guitar at the age of thirteen. Jim’s skills were first recognized when he was selected to perform with the Michigan All State Jazz Band in 1988. Since that time, Jim has been able to work as a professional guitarist with ease.

Currently, Jim is in pre-production for his third solo endeavor. The ability to create his own wide range of instrumental rock music has allowed Jim to merge unforgettable melodies and complete orchestral movements with his own unmistakable guitar voicing.

His work has been praised by such names as Michael Angelo Batio, Tony McAlpine, David Neil Cline, Alex Skolnick and Joe Satriani.

We’re bringing “Level 8″ from Jim’s 2005 album “Jim Morris Band” and “River of Blood” from his 2008 “Lamentia” album. You can preview “Level 8″ in action below; “River of Blood” is such a beastly track that our authors are still working on it! We didn’t want to keep this news from you any longer though, as “Level 8″ will be hitting playtest soon!

Another day, another new genre for us to work with! We’re proud to announce two new tracks from Cleveland, Ohio hip-hop singer, producer and songwriter Bikey!

Bikey, or Nnabike Okaro, was born in Lagos, Nigeria and moved to the United States in 2001 for studies. He began his career with live stage shows, took a break from it when he began studying in the U.S., and picked it up again afterwards. He recorded his first track, a remix of Jay-Z’s “Brooklyn Go Hard,” and later went on to record a four-song EP titled “No Shaking,” from which we will bring songs to the game.

We’ve completed work on two songs from his “No Shaking EP” for Rock Band. The first is “No Shaking,” the title track to the EP, which fits every definition of the term “club-banger.” It’s hard not to get up and dance to this track, which features guest rapper Dapper AJ! The second is “I’m Dancing!,” featuring guest vocalist Alyce, which captures in words the feelig you get when you hear your favorite song on the radio. If you enjoyed “Airplanes,” you’ll love this track.

Expect these songs to release soon, and keep an eye out for more Bikey tracks to come!

We’ve worked with many bands of many genres. And yet, there are some we’ve yet to take on, and are all too happy to venture into. We love challenging songs, we love fast, fun and furious music, and we also love showing off the diversity of music from our local area. And so, we’ve partnered with Stik Man Records to infuse the Rock Band Network with some much-needed thrash punk in the form of Fist of the North Star!

Fist of the North Star is a thrash punk band from our home state of Tennessee. These guys have been blowing crowds away with their unique style of fast-paced, hard-hitting pure punk since 2006, and have shared the stage with acts such as the Misfits, Agent Orange, FEAR, D.R.I., The Casualties and many others. Now they’re coming to show Rock Band what real thrash punk is all about. Check out their preview videos below, and pay attention to the background, for the player avatars have been customized to resemble the band members as close as possible! (Unfortunately we can’t bundle these avatars with the songs, but you imaginative character-creator types should be able to make your own and rock out with FOTNS!)

We love bands willing to embrace the RBN and provide it with lots of awesome music. We also love bands with members who are extremely talented for their ages. Thus, we’ve partnered with Holy War Entertainment to bring you a full album from California punk band SIMPL3JACK!

The three-piece band got their start at an elementary school talent show in 2009, and from there went on to sign a record contract with Holy War and play over 100 professional gigs. They released their self-titled album in early 2011 and are bringing the whole thing to Rock Band!

All 12 tracks of the SIMPL3JACK album are coming soon, and you can check out a preview of three of the songs below! Videos will, of course, be made for the entire album as the songs are completed.

Music is written from the heart and draws inspiration from personal feelings and life experiences. If an event has impacted a musician, they express it through the art they create. John Daly has done this very thing and created the bluesy “Don’t Drink the Bottle,” which we’re proud to bring to the Rock Band Network!

John has been performing since he was young. Born in Levitttown, Pennsylvania, John played locally until he moved to Florida and began recording CDs with a studio band. A man of many talents, John has written many kinds of songs, from Big Band to Country, and is looking to have his music heard in as many places as possible. It’s only natural then that the Rock Band Network would be the next avenue for his music to show up in.

“Don’t Drink the Bottle” is a song about John’s father, who succumbed to alcoholism when John was still young. It’s a perfect portrayal of alcoholism and how it affects not only the alcoholic but the people around him as well. This story is wrapped up in a blues-rock package with catchy guitar riffs and powerful vocals that showcase John’s musical talent.

So many different styles of chiptune music exist. Due to the flexibility of video game sound chips, one can make all kinds of different songs. Chiptune artists push the boundaries of their creativity and the sound chips they use in many ways, and it’s clear from listening to just one BR1GHT PR1MATE song that such experimentation results in amazing music.

BR1GHT PR1MATE is a duo consisting of Lydia Marsala and James Therrien, a couple of Bostonians who combine soulful vocals and Game Boy soundchip compositions to create spacey, bluesy music that’s just as entrancing as it is innovative. The duo have appeared on Fox News in July 2010 to talk about chiptune music, and have performed “I Cry” live on the show. They’ve also performed live in many locations along with other BOSTON8BIT artists.

They will be bringing three tracks to the Rock Band Network off of their album “The Reality Chipmusic Love Industry.” They are:
